Madingley Pre-Preparatory School is a small independent school in an original Victorian building set in the heart of the beautiful and historic village of Madingley, just three miles from the centre of Cambridge. The school offers kindergarten and pre-preparatory teaching to children aged from 2.5 to 7.5 in a welcoming, secure and caring environment in which children thrive. Pupils are given individual attention in small classes where they are actively encouraged to develop their full potential in all areas. Pupils are further encouraged to show courtesy at all times.
Run by a husband and wife team, both of whom have many years of school management experience, the school offers a broad based curriculum in line with the National Curriculum for England and Wales. French is taught throughout the school by a specialist teacher and the school also has the benefit of specialist teachers for music and craft. Visits and visiting speakers are arranged to enhance the curriculum.
Kindergarten children follow carefully planned activities designed to promote curiosity and to establish sound principals of teaching and learning. They are expected to continue to the Key Stage 1 class. The National Curriculum Key Stage 1 class caters for children from 4 to 7 years. Emphasis is placed on the basic skills of Reading, Writing and Mathematics, while Science, History and Geography are usually taught through topics to ensure continuity. Information Technology skills, Art and Craft, Drama, Dance and Physical Education all have an important place in the school curriculum.
The school is easily reached from Cambridge or from further afield. Both the M11 (Junction 13) and the A14 are only 1.5 miles from the school, while the A438 is just half a mile away. The school is convenient for the University's West Cambridge site, Schlumberger Research and the British Antarctic Survey.
